Come celebrate my favorite month with coffee at C&P Coffee and a peek at some of my latest works. These were all done while I was finishing up my first novel, Deathless Creatures, a dark urban fantasy that blends neo-gothic, horror, the paranormal, and romance.

The art in this show was born of charcoal and 23kt gold leaf, salt, gravel, matches, thread, feathers, paint, mica flakes, and if you peer close enough, you’ll find some alphabet bead poetry tucked inside a few.

Collectively, these works are underpinned by a fondness for texture, exploring different techniques and materials, and music. They scratch at trying to balance light with darkness, memories with transformation, and the unease of peeling things back to poke around inside. No glass frames were used so that each piece maintains a sense of vulnerability and exposure.

Though I shouldn’t play favorites, Pyre and When It Rains are near the top for personal reasons and the hours of tweezer work. The holes in Winter Tunnels were burnt open by matches pressed against canvas, and the paint scratches of In The Quiet were made with fingernails to match the text. The mice bones in Endure came from an owl pellet, and the glass in Five Seconds is a rendering of the artist’s electrocardiogram.
